West Seattle's Luna Park Cafe was the target of an audacious theft in the wee hours of the morning on Wednesday, with bandits making off with a trove of breakfast staples. The Seattle Police Department responded to the scene around 4:42 a.m. after a break-in was caught on the cafe's security cameras. According to the SPD Blotter, two men were witnessed lifting an estimated 540 eggs and a slew of other breakfast items including bacon, ground beef, and blueberries.
Surveillance footage revealed the thieves as they packed the pilfered goods, valued at approximately $780, into a van and took off. This morning malfeasance didn't cease there—an employee encountered the van upon arriving at the establishment, only to see it hastily depart. The suspects made a second escape, this time with the employee as a witness.
The local community has been alerted to watch out for any suspicious activity that could be connected to the heist. The Luna Park Cafe, a staple for morning diners in the area, has felt the strain of this robbery, facing a costly hit to their resources used for serving up breakfast to loyal patrons. The stolen items, particularly the hefty quantity of eggs, are essential supplies for the cafe's daily operations.
Seattle Police are actively seeking assistance in apprehending the perpetrators responsible for this early-morning escapade. They urge anyone with information to get in touch and help their investigation. You can provide anonymous tips to authorities by calling the SPD Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
