
An early morning tragedy struck Adelanto on Friday when a severe car crash resulted in the death of three individuals and left others injured. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department's recent release, authorities were dispatched to a fatal traffic collision at the intersection of El Mirage Road and Koala Road at 5:55 am. A red Honda Civic heading eastbound and a gray Chevrolet Tahoe traveling westbound on El Mirage Road collided head-on after the Civic crossed the center divider. The incident was announced through a Nixle alert published on February 9th.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced that the drivers of both the Honda Civic and the Chevrolet Tahoe, as well as a passenger in the Tahoe, were pronounced dead at the scene. In addition to the fatalities, three passengers from the Tahoe were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The rate of speed at which the vehicles were traveling prior to the collision has not been disclosed. The names of the deceased are withheld pending next of kin notification by the Sheriff-Coroner.
Shannon D. Dicus, the Sheriff-Coroner, has confirmed the ongoing investigation into the exact circumstances of the crash. Deputy R. Morales, of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team, is leading the inquiry.
