The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) recently announced the capture of Armando Flores Aguilar, a fugitive on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List. The arrest took place in Houston. Flores Aguilar, 69, originally from Mexico, had been on the run since September 2024, facing charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child in Bastrop County.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety release, his capture was made by a team of DPS Special Agents, Texas Highway Patrol Troopers, and the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force. Flores Aguilar had been previously arrested in May 2024 for continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 but was released on bond. A Crime Stoppers reward was offered for the information leading to his arrest.
Crime Stoppers, funded by the Governor's Public Safety Office, offers rewards for tips that lead to the capture of wanted fugitives in Texas. This year, the program's collaboration with the Texas Department of Public Safety and other agencies has led to nine arrests from the Texas 10 Most Wanted list, which includes fugitives, sex offenders, and criminal illegal immigrants. As of this year, $15,000 in rewards have been given for helpful tips.
Tips can be submitted anonymously for a cash reward. Options include calling the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477), submitting a web tip on the Texas Department of Public Safety website, or using the "SUBMIT A TIP" link on their Facebook page.
