Early yesterday morning, a domestic violence incident escalated to gunfire in Town 'N' Country, resulting in the arrest of two individuals. According to a report by ABC Action News, deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to an apartment complex on the 5800 block of Memorial Highway at around 3:46 a.m. after receiving reports of gunshots.
Upon arrival and with no response at the residence, deputies forced entry, motivated by the belief children might be at risk inside. Found were an adult man, two adult women, and two unharmed children. Meanwhile, a neighbor reported a bullet hole in their window, caused by a gunfire incident nearby, while containing an adult man and a one-year-old child inside the apartment as it happened.
After securing a search warrant, officers located shell casings and two firearms clandestinely hidden under the bathroom vanity of the first apartment, as detailed by Tampa Free Press. The inquiry into the incident revealed that 26-year-old Faith Thomas and 28-year-old Donald Roberts were embroiled in a domestic dispute during which Thomas discharged the firearm off the balcony, in her own admission, to coerce Roberts to vacate the premises.
Faith Thomas faced charges of firing within or into a building and discharging a firearm on public or residential property, while Donald Roberts was charged with battery, adding to the gravity of the domestic violence report. Sheriff Chad Chronister emphasized the danger of the situation, stating, "While domestic violence is never okay, discharging a firearm endangers other innocent lives and is never an acceptable solution," as reported by WFLA. The investigation into this worrying incident remains active.
