Rutherford County was struck by tragedy this weekend as four puppies were found dead following an outbuilding fire on Barfield Crescent Road, as reported by WSMV. Firefighters responded to the scene Sunday evening around 7 p.m. Although the fire was swiftly put out, the search within the building revealed the fatal outcome for the puppies.
According to Rutherford Source, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services and the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office also responded, providing aid at the scene. The causes of the fire have not been disclosed, but investigations are being carried out by the Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office and ATF Nashville to determine what happened that fateful evening.
A second emergency unfolded later that same night when crews were dispatched to a house fire in the Walter Hill community, located on Caribou Trail. Per information from WKRN, smoke and flames were visible from the second floor of the residential structure when firefighters arrived. The fire was contained to the second floor, and though there were minor injuries reported, all residents were confirmed to be safe outside the house.
The American Red Cross is now assisting the occupants of the affected home on Caribou Trail. As the community grapples with the aftermath of these fire-related incidents, both incidents remain under the scrutiny of investigation to piece together the origins and prevent future calamities of a similar nature. Rutherford County Fire & Rescue, along with the collaborative effort of other agencies, stands at the ready to provide support and thorough inquiry into these events.
