According to Action News 5, the bus collided with a utility pole before 11 a.m. on Barron Avenue near Poppen Road, disrupting electricity to more than a thousand MLGW customers.

The crash impact, which left 1,700 MLGW customers without power in the vicinity, occurred in the 3100 block of Barron Ave near Semmes St., reported Local Memphis. Memphis Police responded to the incident just before 10:15 a.m.; two children, who were subsequently taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, sustained injuries that were deemed non-life-threatening, the power due to downed lines was expected to be restored around 2 p.m.

As stated by a Memphis Police Department public information officer, and reported by Local Memphis, the two children involved in the crash "are expected to be okay." The details of their injuries, however, have not been provided.

Restoration efforts were promptly addressed, according to an MLGW spokesperson who also confirmed to WREG that a troubleshooter was on site, power was originally projected to be restored by 2 p.m., however, it remained unclear if the timeline was met or further complications had occurred amid their attempts to rectify the situation caused by the downed lines following the collision.
