Two passengers were taken to the hospital after a vehicle hit a patch of ice and lost control in Monroe County, resulting in a crash that left them injured on Saturday night. According to CBS News Detroit, the incident occurred on Sylvania Petersburg Road in Whiteford Township when a 33-year-old man driving a 2006 Saturn Vue lost control of the vehicle on an ice-covered section of the road, causing it to slide and collide with trees and a utility pole.
Investigators indicate that speed, along with hazardous road conditions, may have contributed to the accident, as stated by 13ABC. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office stated that a 39-year-old man from Toledo and a 28-year-old woman from Lambertville, both passengers in the vehicle, were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The man is reported to be in critical but stable condition, while the woman remains in stable condition.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a vehicle left the roadway after losing control, struck trees, completed a full rotation, and collided with a utility pole before stopping on a residential property. The driver was uninjured, while two others were transported to a hospital for medical treatment, as detailed by WTOL. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
