Two individuals sustained injuries following a seaplane crash yesterday in Lake Dora, near Tavares, as confirmed by the Lake County Sheriff's Office. The mishap, involving an ultralight seaplane, occurred amid the lake on the downtown Tavares side, reported ClickOrlando. The authorities noted that the two passengers had managed to narrowly escape more severe harm, with one person sustaining only minor injuries. In contrast, the other sustained facial injuries and was subsequently transported to a hospital.
While the exact reasons behind the crash remain unclear, the Lake County Sheriff's Office has indicated that both individuals on board are expected "to be ok." Efforts are now underway to thoroughly investigate the incident. The National Transportation Safety Board has been contacted to take over the investigation, aiming to unravel the context and cause of the aircraft's plunge into the waters of Lake Dora, as per the details provided by the Sheriff’s Office.
According to an additional report by WESH, the crash ensued around 2:10 p.m., shortly before the authorities were alerted to the incident. The Federal Aviation Administration has also been called to join the investigation.
