Early this morning, Oakland Park was disrupted by a violent incident that left two men injured. According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, a double stabbing took place near a Kwik Stop on Northeast Third Avenue, prompting a swift response from local deputies. As reported by NBC Miami, the area was quickly cordoned off as authorities collected evidence and worked to piece together the unfortunate events that unfolded.
The victims, found with stab wounds early in the predawn chill, were rushed to a local hospital. Though their injuries were serious, it was confirmed that they were expected to survive. The time stamp of the call leading deputies to the men was logged at 12:15 a.m., today. Despite the hour, residents remained unfazed by the commotion, this according to a man named Craig who regularly bikes in the park across the street, and was interviewed by NBC Miami. "I’m not that worried," he said, suggesting perhaps an increase in police presence might better secure the neighborhood from such incidents.
Meanwhile, specifics regarding the nature of the attack remain murky. WSVN notes that it is still unclear what exactly sparked the violence and whether the two men were acquainted prior to the attack. The investigation continues as detectives piece together the circumstances surrounding the stabbing, which occurred in the 300 block of Northeast 38th Street.
No information has been released about potential suspects, nor has the sheriff's office made it clear if they are actively searching for anyone connected to the crime. The ages and identities of the men involved also remain undisclosed. The BSO’s Violent Crimes Unit leads, in earnest the inquiry, hoping to shed light on the motivations behind the incident.
