In a significant crackdown on violent crime, Vallejo authorities have made headway in disbanding criminal activities tied to drugs and illegal firearms. Two separate investigations, spearheaded by the Vallejo Public Safety Partnership (PSP), have culminated in the arrest of eight individuals on federal charges. The PSP operates as a component of a broader strategy to combat violent crime in the community.
As reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of California, these investigations reflect a collaborative effort between local, state, and federal agencies. According to Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith. Vallejo Police Chief Jason Ta emphasized the importance of community safety and partnership, stating, "Every community member deserves to feel safe and secure in their home."
Among the arrested in Vallejo was a group using a Super 8 motel as the nexus of their illicit firearm sales, which included high-powered weapons. This operation led to the detention of four Vallejo residents on federal firearms offenses. In a parallel action, the FBI apprehended four individuals linked to the Brown Brotherhood, a subset of the Sureño gang, with charges ranging from drug trafficking to firearms offenses. Both sets of arrests mark a significant stance against the penetration of violent crime in Vallejo neighborhoods.
In the Super 8 case, court documents reveal an investigation into a loosely affiliated group that commenced in July of 2024, culminating in the February 20 arrests. Special Agent in Charge Jennifer Cicolani of the ATF stated, "The city of Vallejo is a safer community today because of programs like the National Public Safety Partnership or PSP," according to the press release.
The vigorous prosecution of the eight cases arising from this collaborative effort falls under the jurisdiction of Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jason Hitt, R. Alex Cardenas, Nicole Vanek, Douglas Harman, Charles Campbell, and Adrian Kinsella.
