In a routine traffic stop turned probation violation arrest, Vallejo Police Department patrol officers apprehended a man found with body armor and weapons. The incident occurred near Highway 80 and Tennessee Street when a 2022 Dodge Charger caught the attention of Vallejo PD due to its missing license plates, as per the Vallejo Police Department.
After pulling over the vehicle, the driver presented a valid California driver's license to the officer who, upon conducting a records check, discovered a no-bail felony warrant for a probation violation related to a weapons offense from Contra Costa County, effectively putting the driver into custody, as reported by the Vallejo Police Department's announcement. The probation terms importantly barred the suspect from possessing an array of items, including firearms, ammunition, and body armor, which, after this, was the root cause for the search of his vehicle before impoundment.
Digging into the car's contents, Vallejo PD uncovered two body armor vests, a replica firearm, a conducted energy device, a baton, and a box of ammunition during a mandatory probation search before towing. After the suspect was read his rights, he admitted to owning the prohibited items and presented his work credentials as a security guard, attempting to justify his possession.
Despite the given explanation, the male suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was booked into the Solano County Jail. All the items deemed court-ordered prohibited were seized and placed into evidence. Furthermore, the Dodge Charger was towed away from the scene, according to the department's disclosure.
