Vallejo Police Arrest Suspect After Destructive Cement Truck Chase on Broadway StreetSource: Vallejo Police Department

An adult male suspect commandeered a yellow cement truck and turned Broadway Street into his personal demolition derby. The Vallejo Police Department reports that officers responded to a vehicle theft in progress on Monday at a business located at the 1800 block of Broadway Street.

The suspect, whose grand theft auto escalated into a dangerous high-speed chase, wasn't content with just stealing the vehicle. He busted through a roll-up door, causing an estimated $50,000 in property damages. The pursuit stopped out of concern for public safety as the thief barreled through red lights and veered into oncoming traffic.

After abandoning the stolen truck, which was later found smashed into a utility pole near the intersection of Alabama and El Dorado Street, the suspect’s brief freedom came to an end. These locals didn't just watch the chaos unfold but instead provided crucial information to the authorities. According to the Vallejo Police Department's social media post, the tips led officers to a nearby residence where the fugitive hid.

As per the Vallejo Police Department, things got a bit tense as the police set up a perimeter and began their "surround and callout," a technique meant to persuade suspects to give themselves up peacefully. However, the man wasn't going down without a fight, but law enforcement eventually prevailed despite his reluctance to cooperate. A brief struggle did ensue, and their suspect was taken into custody. Adding to his woes, the suspect was found to have two arrest warrants, one for a probation violation and another for a restraining order violation, from Pleasant Hill and Nevada, California, respectively. He now faces many new felony charges and a booking at Solano County Jail.
