Mark your calendars for an event that highlights the enterprising spirit of Wake Forest's minority and women business owners. On Saturday, from 1-4 p.m., the Wake Forest Human Relations Council (HRC) is set to host the 2025 Minority & Women-Owned Business Expo. This free event will take place at the Wake Forest Renaissance Centre, located at 405 S. Brooks St.
Statistics paint a stark contrast in the business landscape, with a 2023 report indicating only 2% of all US businesses are Black-owned, a marginal 6% are Hispanic-owned, and just 5% are owned by women. The Expo aims to actively bridge this gap, designed to increase recognition and to practically support the opportunities for these business owners within the community.
Boasting participation from over 35 local businesses, the event will feature a diverse range of offerings. Attendees can look forward to engaging with businesses like Aging Care Matters, Ataraxis Travel, Brookfields Indoor Golf & Lounge, Divine Holistic Wellness, and Kwench Juice Café. For those interested in something more specific, Remarkable Regenerating Waves, The Makery, White Street Market, and Where in the World Vacations will also be there among others. The complete list of participants is available for those wishing to plan their visit in advance.
