Capt. Matt May retired last Saturday after 25 years with the Wake Forest Police Department. He passed on his role as Police Captain to Matt Perkinson, according to the Town of Wake Forest.

May began his career as a Police Officer in the early 2000s, progressing to Lieutenant and then Captain in 2010. In 2000, he received a Medal of Valor and the Purple Heart for bravery and a serious injury sustained in the line of duty, as recognized by the Town of Wake Forest.

May, an alumnus of the 242nd session of the FBI National Academy, served Wake Forest for 25 years, contributing to the police department through his leadership and dedication. Capt. Matt Perkinson will now lead the department, continuing the work started during May’s tenure, as reported by the Town of Wake Forest.
