The Washington Fish and Wildlife Commission will hold a virtual public meeting on Friday, streamed live. The meeting will cover topics like commercial whale watching rules, land transactions for conservation, and managing salmon in the Columbia River.

According to the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife website, the agenda starts with an open mic for public input, followed by a report from WDFW Director Kelly Susewind. Due to bad weather, committee meetings have been canceled, and all discussions will take place in one day. They will discuss land transactions, including water access in Clallam Bay and a partnership in Kitsap County, with a focus on a new boat launch in Clallam County offering free access to the sea.

After reviewing land matters, the Commission will hear about the Columbia River Compact and the progress of the Columbia gillnet buyback budget. They will also discuss future salmon fishery management. Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife will present their funding plans for biodiversity from 2023 to 2025.

While Saturday meetings are canceled, those wanting to speak at Friday's session must sign up in advance. If unable to attend the live meeting, a recorded version will be available on the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife website. The department invites everyone to participate, regardless of race, color, sex, age, national origin, language proficiency, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, status as a veteran, or disability. The website provides details on commenting procedures, how to join the live stream, and how to call in.
