Attention to all vehicle and boat owners in Washington: if your license plate tabs are set to expire in February, it might be wise to get ahead of the crowd. According to an announcement on the Pierce County website, the Washington Department of Licensing is urging residents to renew online this week, or if needed, in person by no later than February 13.
Due to a planned upgrade to the vehicle and boat licensing system, there will be disruptions to both online and in-person services starting February 10. Online services will be down from February 10-17, and in-person services will be unavailable from February 14-17. Pierce County licensing agencies will be closed during this time, which may leave many unable to renew their tabs.
If you have questions or need licensing help on Friday, February 14, the Pierce County Auditor’s Office licensing unit will be open. However, it will be closed over the weekend, including Presidents' Day on February 17, and will reopen on February 18 when the system upgrade is complete.
