A week in Shrewsbury saw a variety of criminal activities ranging from theft to scams, as per the Shrewsbury Police Department's latest crime report. On February 5, a business on Murdoch Avenue faced the theft of a catalytic converter from a company vehicle. The case remains open as investigators continue to actively piece together the details in an effort to catch the perpetrator.

An unfortunate incident on February 6 saw a local business scammed out of thousands of dollars. Shrewsbury Police Department issued a sharp warning, stating "ANYONE demanding pre-paid cards or bit coin as payment for anything, IS A SCAM!". This bitter experience serves as a stark reminder to cautiously verify all financial transactions.

In a report obtained by Shrewsbury Police Department, last Saturday, a shoplifting event occurred at Walmart where an individual stuffed over $175 worth of goods into a backpack before attempting to leave the premises without paying. Caught by local law enforcement, the suspect initially resisted arrest but was subdued and detained, only to boldly claim during booking that court appearances were not in his future plans.

The following day, last Sunday, started with an investigation into a hit-and-run incident. The vehicle that caused the accident was soon identified, but the driver remains at large as police continue to rigorously follow leads. That same day, a Flock camera notification led officers to a stolen car found parked without its occupants in Shrewsbury. Subsequent investigation discovered five juveniles in a nearby business, who were believed to be connected with the stolen vehicle. The juveniles were turned over to their families and the case will be reviewed by Family Courts. The vehicle has since been returned to its rightful owner.

Throughout the week, the Shrewsbury police were kept busy with 9 shoplifting incidents, 5 motor vehicle accidents, and 9 residential and commercial alarms. Additionally, they provided support to the Fire/EMS Department on 29 calls, ensuring public safety and responding promptly to emergencies within the community.
