An 18-mile car chase through Fond du Lac County ended in Winnebago County with the arrest of a 43-year-old Wild Rose man on the night of Friday, February 21. The pursuit began when a deputy observed a vehicle on Interstate 41 near Church Road that caught their attention. According to a report by the Fond du Lac Reporter, the driver failed to heed a stop sign, and upon the deputy's attempt to conduct a stop with lights and sirens, the suspect's vehicle sped away.
The chase continued into the city after exiting the interstate, with deputies in pursuit. The suspect increased speed rather than complying, igniting a chase. Deputies stated in a release obtained by FOX6 News that the ordeal came to an end in Winnebago County where the man was apprehended.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the suspect is currently being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail. He faces felony charges including Fleeing/Eluding and Second-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety as a result of the incident.
