An officer-involved shooting at an Arleta motel has left a woman, identified as Linda Becerra Moran, hospitalized after she was allegedly armed with a knife and shot by police. The Los Angeles Police Department reported responding to a possible kidnapping call at the motel situated on the 10000 block of San Fernando Road at approximately 9:40 a.m. on Friday, as per KTLA.

Upon their arrival at the scene, officers encountered Moran in a room, where she reportedly became agitated during their investigation. According to a CBS Los Angeles statement, she armed herself with a knife and proceeded to hold it against her neck. Officers then retreated to the doorway and commanded her to drop the weapon. However, Moran did not comply and is alleged to have advanced towards the officers while still holding the knife, prompting at least one officer to discharge their firearm.

Moran was struck by the gunfire, subsequently dropped the knife, and fell onto the bed. No other individuals were reported injured in the incident. Officers provided aid to the wounded woman before she was transported by rescue ambulance to a local hospital, say authorities. Her current medical condition and the extent of her injuries have not yet been disclosed.

The Los Angeles Police Department's official X account also provided details of the confrontation, noting that "Moran was taken into custody without further incident." A knife was recovered from the scene and has been booked as evidence. The Force Investigation Division (FID) is leading the ongoing probe into the shooting incident, which is to possibly offer more context as the investigation unfolds.
