Early this morning, a house fire erupted in North Seattle's Bitter Lake neighborhood, leaving a 55-year-old woman in critical condition. The Seattle Fire Department reported on social media at approximately 5:41 a.m. that crews were responding to the incident. FOX 13 Seattle relayed the initial announcement of the fire.
Rescue teams managed to quickly evacuate the building and, according to KIRO 7, a woman was rescued from the burning structure. Paramedics at the scene began to immediately treat her, and as a result, she was transported swiftly to the hospital for further care. While her identity has not been disclosed, it has been established that her condition is critical.
KING 5 reporters arrived later as smoke continued to rise from the home. By 6:10 a.m., fire officials confirmed that firefighters had transitioned to a defensive strategy, focusing on pouring water on the flame-engulfed house from the outside. "Smoke could still be seen billowing from the home," as per a report by KING 5, which also highlighted the fire department's concerns that the structure might collapse.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, with no further details being immediately available. The Seattle Fire Department has yet to release more information on the potential origins or circumstances that led to the blaze.
