A family outing took a critical turn yesterday at Cypress Bend Park where a 12-year-old boy from San Antonio nearly drowned in the river. The New Braunfels Fire Department and New Braunfels Police Department were dispatched to the scene around 3:40 p.m. after receiving reports of the incident. According to a City of New Braunfels press release, the boy, whose identity has not been made public, was in the water with his family when he submerged and failed to resurface promptly.

Arriving before the first responders, City of New Braunfels Park Rangers found the boy already pulled from the river by family members. They immediately began performing lifesaving measures, struggling to revive the young soul borne away by the river's indifferent currents.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) took over upon their arrival, stabilizing the boy on-site before transporting him by ground to Resolute Hospital. In a critical condition, he was later airlifted to a hospital in the San Antonio area for further treatment.

The ongoing investigation into the near drowning has so far revealed neither foul play nor alcohol involvement.
