The Metropolitan Police Department has reported an arrest in connection with an assault incident that took place in Northeast Washington, D.C. The suspect, a 13-year-old juvenile female from Hyattsville, MD, surrendered herself to the police yesterday, following her alleged involvement in a shooting incident earlier that week.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting occurred on Wednesday around 3:57 p.m. in the 5600 block of East Capitol Street, Northeast. It was reported that the suspect and victim engaged in a heated verbal altercation, which escalated, with the suspect eventually discharging a firearm at the victim before fleeing. Thankfully, no injuries were sustained during the incident.

Responding Sixth District officers immediately began their investigation, which culminated in the suspect’s turn-in at an MPD District Station. The juvenile is now facing charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), a serious allegation reflecting the gravity of the matter at hand.
