A suspect has been arrested following a shooting in Eckington, thanks to quick police work and the presence of surveillance video. The incident, which took place in the Unit block of S Street, Northeast, last Friday, led to the recovery of two handguns.
The Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene after a shooting was reported at approximately 6:17 p.m. Though no victim was found, evidence of gunfire was clear. According to official reports, surveillance footage was crucial in the subsequent arrest. It captured an individual exiting a residence, drawing a firearm, and firing shots.
Officers, acting on information gleaned from the video, apprehended the suspect within that residence. At the time of the arrest, the suspect was taken into custody without incident, and an additional handgun was seized.
Thanks to the on-scene investigation, De’Adrian Davis, 19, from Southeast, was charged with Endangerment with a Firearm and Carrying a Pistol without a License. These charges suggest serious consequences for what could have been a far more tragic event.
