
A woman was shot in the knee during an attempted robbery in Dutchtown. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the incident, which took place on Friday afternnon at 5:45 PM, led to the 21-year-old victim arriving at a hospital with a gunshot wound. Despite initial calls to the 4600 block of S. Spring pertaining to a "Flourishing" of a weapon, responding officers failed to find any evidence at the scene.
The situation escalated quickly when a 21-year-old woman, alongside a 23-year-old man, drove to S. Spring and Itaska with the intent to buy marijuana. The transaction was arranged over social media with an unknown seller. Upon their arrival, they were met not with a peaceful exchange but with the stark fear of a gun being brandished for the purpose of robbery. In an attempt to safely get away, the woman managed to hastily drive off only to be followed by the sound of four gunshots, one of which struck her in the right knee, as reported to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
Following the incident, the two victims, bound by circumstance and injury, decided to switch seats, allowing the 23-year-old man to assume control of the vehicle and drive to the nearest hospital. Their harrowing experience now forms the core of an ongoing investigation by the District 1 officers. No arrests have yet been made, as the assailant remains unidentified and at large.
