A fatal shooting occurred in the Bronx last night, claiming the life of 38-year-old Alexis Sanchez. AM New York reports that the incident took place near Sanchez's residence on West 165th Street, close to Nelson Avenue in Highbridge. Police were called to the scene at approximately 11:57 p.m., where they discovered Sanchez with a gunshot wound to his neck.
According to the New York Daily News, Sanchez had been at a deli down the block from his home shortly before the shooting occurred. A confrontation with a man dressed in a black hoodie supposedly took place, during which the man opened fire on Sanchez.
Emergency Medical Services arrived promptly and transported Sanchez to Lincoln Hospital, but efforts to save his life were unsuccessful. The shooter fled the scene after the attack and is now being sought by authorities. Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood in search of surveillance footage that may help identify the gunman.
No arrest has been linked to the case as of yet. Investigators are urging anyone with information to step forward.
