Quick action by the responding crews contained the blaze before it could spread to the adjacent main house. Despite their efforts, the garage apartment and breezeway sustained heavy damage. In total, 49 personnel from Stations 2, 68, 83, 10, 76, 86, 75, and 57 were involved in responding to and managing the fire, as per the City of Houston.
