Early yesterday, a life was lost in Houston, according to Houston police. The incident, a fatal crash occurred around 7 a.m. in the 6500 block of South Dairy Ashford Road, involving a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle. A 70-year-old woman, whose name is yet to be released pending identification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, lost her life in the collision, as per release by the City of Houston.
Witnesses at the scene described the moments leading up to the crash, noting that the female pedestrian had run across moving lanes of traffic just as she was hit by a northbound gray Dodge Ram pickup truck. The truck's driver, a 49-year-old male, stayed at the scene, contacted emergency services, and cooperated with the authorities.
The aftermath was managed by HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer J. Leon, who are leading the investigation into the incident. The inquiry into the cause of the accident and the sequence of events that led to the fatality is ongoing, with investigators reviewing eyewitness accounts and available evidence.
