Last Wednesday, a 72-year-old Albany man was killed in a crash on Highway 20 in Linn County. Oregon State Police reported that the incident happened around 8:25 p.m. at the Knox Butte Road intersection, involving a Hyundai Santa Fe and a Volvo XC9.
Investigations suggest Loren Duane Soderholm, driving the Hyundai, may have failed to stop at the intersection. His vehicle collided with a westbound Volvo driven by 19-year-old Jayden Loren Viars. Soderholm suffered fatal injuries, while Viars sustained minor injuries.
Soderholm was taken to the hospital, but despite efforts, he was declared dead. Highway 20 was closed for about three hours as Oregon State Police, with help from the Albany Fire Department, investigated the scene.
