In a significant police operation, Akron authorities were arrested following the execution of a search warrant that uncovered a substantial cache of illegal drugs and firearms. Akron Police Department used its Facebook page to broadcast the details of the bust, which occurred yesterday and led to the arrest of 29-year-old Paul Messenger.
Messenger was charged with multiple felonies that include trafficking drugs, such as methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl, as well as improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and possession of criminal tools. The seriousness of these offenses is heightened due to Messenger's activities being conducted within 1000 ft of a school, specifically Mason CLC. This proximity triggers additional mandatory sentences for the accused.
The Akron Police Department's Street Narcotics Uniform Detail (SNUD) team seized an arsenal that included four pistols, a semi-automatic shotgun, and an attachment to convert a pistol into a rifle setup from Messenger's property. Illegal substances totaling hundreds of grams across various categories were also recovered – methamphetamine, cocaine, fentanyl, and MDMA, among them. Law enforcement officials also confiscated items such as digital scales and pill presses, tools indicative of a drug trafficking operation.
Authorities were able to seize not only $1,395 in cash but also 42 packets of Suboxone, 13 MDMA pills, and other various paraphernalia in the raid. The discovery of a significant amount of narcotics and associated weaponry has underscored the ongoing battle authorities face against drug-related crimes within the community. The Akron Police Department's post detailed the array of charges faced by Messenger and the specifics of the seizure, presenting a transparent account of their efforts to combat street-level narcotics operations.
