Cleveland is getting one more sunny summer day before the atmosphere flips the script. Friday starts clear with temperatures in the low 60s, then climbs to about 81 degrees under mostly sunny skies. The bigger weather story arrives Saturday, when thunderstorms are expected to sweep across the region.
Sunny Friday Gives Way To Storms Saturday
The National Weather Service calls for dry weather across Cleveland through early Saturday, with light northeast winds of 3 to 9 mph Friday and a mostly clear night dropping to around 64 degrees. Saturday should begin mostly sunny and reach near 80, but showers and thunderstorms are expected after noon with an 80% chance of rain.
Some storms Saturday could bring damaging wind gusts or hail, although the overall severe-weather threat is considered marginal. Rainfall will generally total a quarter- to half-inch, but repeated storms could produce locally heavier amounts. Saturday night looks especially unsettled, with a 90% chance of showers and thunderstorms and another half-inch to three-quarters of an inch possible.
Cooler, Wetter Sunday Near Lake Erie
A cold front will push through Saturday night, sending Sunday temperatures down to around 72 degrees. Rain showers are likely before 5 p.m., followed by a chance of additional showers and thunderstorms, with west-northwest winds running 10 to 15 mph.
Lake-enhanced showers are expected to be most frequent from the Cleveland metro area east-northeast toward the snowbelt. Lake Erie conditions could also turn choppier late Saturday night into Sunday, so beachgoers and boaters should keep an eye out for possible beach hazards, rip currents and rougher water.
Quieter Weather Returns Monday
Monday may begin with a few showers before 8 a.m., then turn mostly sunny with a high near 70 and a low around 60. Tuesday looks mostly sunny and mild near 76, while Wednesday reaches about 79 under partly sunny skies.
A chance of showers and thunderstorms returns Wednesday night into Thursday, but the end of the forecast period remains warmer and less stormy than the weekend. Thursday is expected to reach near 79 with a 35% chance of rain showers.
