The Petaluma Police Department dispatched officers to the Sonoma Mountain Parkway area after receiving calls about alleged gunshots at approximately 1:15 a.m. yesterday. Despite the seriousness of the claims and the urgency of their actions, law enforcement's search through the night's veil yielded nothing to substantiate the reports.
A thorough investigation enveloped the area, with the responding units interviewing those who reported hearing the shots and scouring through available surveillance footage, as explained in the department's statement. Yet, nothing surfaced to confirm that gunshots were indeed fired – no shell casings, no bullet holes, no echoes of danger.
The absence of evidence has led authorities to conclude that the incident poses no threat to public safety. Nevertheless, the Petaluma Police Department has opted to keep this investigation open. They urge anyone with insights to step forward and contact the non-emergency line at (707) 778-4373.
