
An apartment complex in Ann Arbor was the site of a fire on Monday evening, believed by authorities to potentially have been sparked by smoking. The fire broke out just after 10:30 p.m. at a building on Pittsfield Boulevard, according to ClickOnDetroit. Crews responded swiftly to the incident, confining the damage to two units within the structure.
Firefighters, working diligently to quickly suppress the flames, managed to save an estimated $750,000 worth of property, even though the fire damage is appraised at about $250,000. During the mayhem, one adult male had to be urgently transported to U-M Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, as disclosed by the City of Ann Arbor Fire Department's Facebook post. Though the fire's cause is still under active investigation, initial speculation hints to an association with smoking activities.
The incident unfolded at the 2800 block of Pittsfield Boulevard, with Fire Engine 1-4 being the first to arrive on the scene. The firefighters witnessed a well-involved fire in the middle of the group condominium building. According to the City of Ann Harbor Fire Department's post, their quick actions were central in preventing the fire from spreading beyond the two units initially impacted.
