Commuters in Annandale might want to start planning alternative routes come mid-April. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has slated a six-month road construction project on Hwy. 55, which will stretch a 1.4-mile within city limits and is set to cause significant traffic disruptions from April to October, according to Wright County News.
The overhaul includes an asphalt reconstruction, replacement of underground utilities, and updating the current signal light system. Moreover, the project aims to improve pedestrian safety with the installation of flashing crosswalk signals and sidewalk renovations, as per the official announcement. Street lighting upgrades are also on the agenda to enhance nighttime visibility for a safer drive.
For drivers looking to bypass the construction zone, a detour route will be in place via CSAH 3, CSAH 39, State Highway 24 and CSAH 6. Detailed information on the detour and project specifics will be shared during a pre-construction open house scheduled for April 3, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Annandale City Hall, located at 30 Cedar St. E.
