
An Arcadia neighborhood was rattled when police arrived in tactical gear after a man was found shot to death in a possible home invasion. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon on the 50 block of Woodland Lane; authorities have yet to release the identity of the man who perished, as KTLA reports.
At about 6:30 p.m., a mother and her 13-year-old son were accosted and forced into their home by an unidentified individual leading to a confrontation wherein the father was shot, investigators who arrived on scene had their weapons drawn and were aiding the Arcadia Police Department, the commotion drawing the attention of onlookers and the media, according to NBC Los Angeles.
Following the shooting, the father, a 61-year-old, was transported to a hospital but was ultimately pronounced dead; meanwhile, the suspect behind the tragic event is still at large with no clear description available to the public. The motive behind the invasion and subsequent violence remains unclear, although Lieutenant Steven De Jong mentioned to ABC7 that the incident may have been personally motivated.
Amidst the investigation, a couple of weapons were discovered at the crime scene, it’s uncertain at this juncture whether these weapons belonged to the homeowner or the assailant; it appears the victim may have attempted to arm himself in defense against the intruder. The mother and son, fortunately, were left unharmed and are assisting police with their inquiries, sharing information crucial to the ongoing search for the perpetrator.
