An Arkansas man, identified as Brian Keith Mays, age 58, has been convicted on charges of armed bank robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Oklahoma. The conviction came after a federal jury trial that concluded on March 13, 2025, which found Mays guilty on both counts outlined in a Superseding Indictment returned by a federal Grand Jury on January 21.
Details from the trial indicated that Mays carried out the robbery on July 5, 2024, at FNB Community Bank in Harrah, Oklahoma. He threatened the bank tellers with a pistol, fleeing with $12,123, a figure presented as evidence during the proceedings. The FBI combined efforts with local law enforcement to track Mays down, using surveillance footage, an eyewitness account that captured the getaway vehicle's tag number, and data from Mays's cell phone, which placed him at the scene at the time of the robbery. A Walmart visit shortly after the robbery served as additional evidence, where Mays was captured on video handling a substantial amount of cash.
At his upcoming sentencing, Mays now faces a potential life imprisonment sentence and fines that could amount to $500,000. This case falls under "Operation Take Back America," a nation-wide initiative targeting illegal immigration and violent crime, as stated in a press release from the Department of Justice.
The agencies involved in the investigation include the FBI's Oklahoma City and Fort Smith Field Offices, the Harrah Police Department, the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oklahoma City Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Daniel Gridley and Drew E. Davis handled the prosecution.
