Residents of Arlington, mark your calendars for a chance to declutter responsibly: the City is organizing a free paper shredding and electronics recycling event on April 5, 2025. Aimed at helping you safely dispose of sensitive documents and outdated gadgets, the event will run from 8 a.m. to noon at the southeast corner of Mitchell Street and Cooper Street, in the UTA parking lot. Just bring proof of your residency, and you're in, according to the City of Arlington.
Limiting paper shredding to two boxes per vehicle, the city ensures a fair chance for all, however, don't dally, as this opportunity will conclude once the truck reaches capacity; it's first-come, first-served. In the realm of electronics, attendees can bring items such as flat screen and CRT televisions, stereo systems, video players, gaming consoles, cameras, cellphones, tablets, and various small corded appliances for recycling, the full list is detailed on the city's website.
But not everything with a plug is welcome. The event has drawn a line at refrigerators, freezers, wine coolers, air conditioners, or any other items containing Freon. If you're looking to ditch those bulky appliances, give Republic Services a ring at (817) 317-2000, they will guide you about the right way to dispose of such electronics.
