Calling all book lovers in Arlington! Ready your shelves because the Friends and Foundation of the Arlington Public Library (FFAPL) is rolling out its annual Spring Book Sale from March 18 through March 22. If you're after a treasure trove of literature or just want to snag a deal on jigsaw puzzles and assorted media, the Meadowbrook Recreation Center at 1400 East Dugan St. is the place to be, reported the City of Arlington's official website.
Since its foundation, FFAPL has been a magnet for those passionate about Arlington's public libraries, fostering community involvement, promoting awareness, and aiding in fundraising efforts. Offering a wide range of books and materials mostly priced at $1, the sale welcomes various forms of payment, with the stipulation that credit card purchases hit a $5 minimum. Running for five days, prospective buyers can hunt bargains from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on most dates, with a half-price day scheduled on the final day that also includes a special block for teachers and nonprofits.
The Spring Book Sale not only gives bibliophiles a chance to fulfill their reading desires but also helps support the Arlington Public Library's diverse programs. These initiatives span from early literacy ventures and cultural happenings to adult education and maker workshops. FFAPL, being a 501(c)3 organization, plays a crucial role as the channel for grants and corporate donations that enrich the library's public offerings. Event-goers can be content in the knowledge that their purchases assist in sustaining these valuable community resources.
Remember, though, if you're looking to unload some of your collection, hold off on bringing book donations during the event. They will resume accepting book donations starting the third Thursday and Saturday of April. Monetary donations are, however, welcome during the sale.
