Earlier this week, an adult and a juvenile were taken into custody at a high school in Moreno Valley after reports of an armed robbery surfaced. The incident occurred on Tuesday, March 11, at approximately 5:10 p.m. in the 23000 block of Cougar Canyon Road. Although not explicitly named by officials, this block includes Canyon Springs High School, as cited by KTLA.
The suspects were quickly identified by the school's resource deputy, who launched an investigation immediately after the armed robbery allegation was made, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department disclosed details of the arrest. The adult, 18-year-old Noah Arias, and the juvenile, whose name has not been shared due to his age, could potentially not even be school students. "The firearm used in the incident was located in a vehicle parked on campus," according to the sheriff's news release.
Both individuals face charges for possession of a firearm and ammunition on a school campus. While the minor has been booked at juvenile hall, Arias was held at the Robert Presley Detention Center. Reports up to 9 p.m. indicated that KTLA had not received a comment from school officials, but, the school district was noted as fully cooperative with the authorities during the investigation.
Deputy N. Ramirez has urged the public to provide any information to secure more details on this case by phoning the Moreno Valley Sheriff's Station at (951)486–6700.
