The Austin Police Department (APD) concluded an investigation that led to the arrest of Albert Garcia, a 38-year-old Hispanic male, for his alleged involvement in the distribution of narcotics in Austin. The case, numbered 24-5031851, unfolded on the morning of March 25, when APD executed a search warrant at Garcia's residence on the 8500 block of Birmingham Drive around 8 a.m., according to official reports.

APD began their probe into Garcia's activities in December 2024 after receiving information that pointed to his alleged role in cocaine distribution while he was under supervised federal probation for a similar offense. During the course of their investigation, detectives gathered surveillance footage showing Garcia engaging with known narcotics distributors in the area, conducting what appeared to be drug transactions. These observations helped them build a case that led to a search warrant for Garcia’s home.

Upon searching Garcia's residence, officers discovered and seized $19,294 in cash, about 1.2 pounds of fentanyl, and roughly 1.1 pounds of cocaine, as outlined in the APD's statement. Both Garcia and his girlfriend were detained during the search. Garcia was arrested and charged with two counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance >400 grams. He also faces federal prosecution on these new charges.

The APD remains dedicated to its mission of "removing dangerous drugs, such as fentanyl and cocaine, off the streets." They do not tolerate the distribution of these controlled substances in Austin and have encouraged anyone with information about suspected narcotics dealers to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program, which offers a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
