On Thursday, Baltimore's Southwest District became the center of a homicide investigation following the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old man, named Taijah Addison, who was discovered by local patrol officers, seated in a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by the Baltimore Police Department.
Following the initial investigation and a quick review of nearby surveillance footage, officers arrested 27-year-old Matthew Crawley on Thursday without incident after taking him into custody in the 500 block of Yale Avenue, which is just a short distance from where the shooting occurred. He has since been charged with first-degree murder, shedding a stark light on the abrupt violence that punctuates too many of our cities' streets.
Matthew Crawley, who also hails from Baltimore, is currently being held at the Central Booking Intake Facility.
