
Berkley, Michigan's late-night calm was disrupted when local authorities were called to track down a prowling suspect. According to CBS News Detroit, the call came in around 12:05 a.m., alerting the police to a figure skulking around homes and vehicles on Wiltshire Road, west of Woodward Avenue.
Officers, accompanied by the well-known K-9 Bear and his handler, quickly arrived and began their search within two minutes. Their swift response, even in the middle of the night, reassured the residents of the quiet suburb that help was on the way. According to a social media post by the Berkley Department of Public Safety, an officer spotted the suspect, who bolted between homes, triggering a chase involving the K-9 team.
The chase concluded with the suspect's capture behind a business establishment on Woodward Avenue. The encounter was recorded, and the police later shared the footage. The quick action by Berkley officers and their canine companion yielded an arrest and reportedly led to the discovery of suspected stolen items where the suspect had been confronted.
Subsequently, the prowler was arrested on Prowling charges and for violating a conditional bond from a previous Larceny arrest. The individual apprehended's name has not been released and is awaiting arraignment, which maintains the suspect's right to due process.
