The city of Blaine is on the lookout for a new city manager, a key figure to steer the municipal ship following Michelle Wolfe's announcement of her upcoming retirement. Having held the reins since September 2019, Wolfe is set to depart the office by the end of June this year, leaving a significant leadership gap in a role that acts as the CEO for urban governance, orchestrating the daily operations and aligning department heads with the city council's policies.
With the cornerstone of their government stepping down, Blaine's elected officialdom has kicked off the process to find a worthy successor. The City Council spearheaded discussions on the recruitment strategy in their quest for new leadership since Wolfe's announcement. They've decided that the hunt requires a professional touch, so in February, they put out the feelers for executive search firms that could undertake a nationwide trawl for candidates. Early this March, the council put its faith in Strategic Government Resources (SGR), tapping the firm to spearhead the search for the next city manager, as announced on the city's website.
The council's choice, SGR, is tasked with sifting through a broad spectrum of prospects to locate an individual whose vision and expertise align with Blaine's community goals and the daunting list of administrative duties that come with the city manager title. The chosen individual will have the unique opportunity to shape policies and implement strategic decisions in close collaboration with the city's elected leaders, thereby directly influencing the future of Blaine's residents and businesses.
