A somber discovery was made this past Friday when a body was found in the Weedon Island Preserve. The remains, uncovered in a dense section of the park, have not yet been identified due to their condition. According to St. Petersburg Police Department, there is a possibility that the body may be that of Allister Nasr, the 17-year-old who vanished after departing from his home on his bicycle on March 1.
The continuing investigation into Nasr's disappearance has seen his bicycle discovered earlier in the week, close to the location where the body was eventually found. The Pinellas County Medical Examiner's Office is working to determine the cause of death and to formally identity the body. Detectives coordinate with forensic experts in hope of bringing closure to a lingering uncertainty.
Meticulous searches of the area around Weedon Island Preserve have been executed via foot patrols, drones, helicopters, thermal imaging equipment, and boats over the last several days. A break in the case came when a park ranger stumbled upon personal items believed to be linked to Nasr, prompting a renewed aerial search. It was during this intensified effort that the remains were located.
The effort to locate him included comprehensive searches throughout the Weedon Island area.
