The Kenosha Police Department confirmed yesterday that the body of a woman found in Lake Michigan over the weekend has been identified as 18-year-old Kayla Sobczak, who had been reported missing since December last year, according to JSOnline.
Sobczak was last seen on December 17, 2024, and her family reported her disappearance on December 23, authorities mentioned. A woman's body was discovered by police within a break wall at Eichelman Park in Kenosha this past Sunday at approximately 8:54 p.m., which was roughly four hours after police responded to a call about a body in the lake, as reported by FOX6 News.
The Kenosha County Medical Examiner's Office facilitated the identification of the deceased as Sobczak, while local residents described the discovery scene as quite disturbing, with one witness recounting the presence of "two fire trucks parked around the corner, eight policemen down on the lake, they had taped off the rocks and like five people on the rocks with flashlights looking," as noted by TMJ4.
