After a thorough investigation spanning nearly two years, Boston Police have made an arrest in the fatal shooting of Daniel T. Mayers, a 33-year-old man from Haverhill, Massachusetts. The shooting took place in Dorchester back in May 2023 and resulted in Mayers's death from gunshot wounds he sustained. According to the Boston Police Department's release, the suspect, 21-year-old Amari Williams of Acada, Georgia, was apprehended yesterday, at Boston Police Headquarters.
At the time of the incident, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) and District C-11 (Dorchester) were summoned to the scene near 264 Columbia Road, where they discovered Mayers critically wounded. He was quickly taken to a local hospital but did not survive his injuries. Years of persistent police work finally led to an arrest warrant for Williams, who now faces charges including murder and carrying a firearm without a license. The arrest seemingly came to slowly clarify the violent event that shook the Dorchester community.
Amari Williams is set to face these charges in Suffolk Superior Court, as announced by the police. The Boston Police continue, even after this arrest, to investigate the case actively, suggesting there may be more to unravel in this complex story. They urge anyone with further information to step forward and contact the Boston Police Homicide Detectives at (617) 343-4470. For those wishing to remain anonymous, the CrimeStoppers Tip Line can be reached at 1 (800) 494-TIPS, or by texting "TIP" to CRIME (27463).
It is not only the legal process that moves forward, but also the healing process for those affected.
