Yesterday morning, a significant drug bust occurred in Charlestown as police arrested a 72-year-old man on multiple drug-related charges. The Boston Police Department reported that officers from the City-Wide Drug Control Unit and the Drug Control Unit of District A-1 stopped Dexter Harvey after observing him driving around Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard. The stop led to the discovery of illegal substances and U.S. currency, leading to Harvey's arrest.
During the traffic stop at approximately 10:48 a.m., officers quickly moved to securely handcuff Harvey, informing him of the search warrants they held for his person, vehicle, and residence at 42 Park Street. According to the official report by the Boston Police Department, officers recovered approximately 33 grams of crack cocaine, 7.5 grams of fentanyl, and $352 in cash. These findings support the suspicions that ultimately led to his prompt arrest.
Harvey now faces multiple charges that include Trafficking of Class B, two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A, two counts of Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B, and Distribution of Class B. The recovered substances command serious attention, considering Fentanyl's lethal potency and Crack Cocaine's destructive effects on communities.
The suspect was brought into custody without incident and is scheduled to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
