The Boston Police Department (BPD) has recently emphasized community engagement through a literary event. Commissioner Cox, alongside officers from the Bureau of Community Engagement and District D-4's Community Service Office, visited Blackstone School to read to students. The initiative, part of a broader effort to foster a positive relationship between law enforcement and community youth, aimed to inspire students by highlighting the importance of literacy.
As officers and local educators traded places at the podium, the young minds of Blackstone School were treated to a series of stories. Despite their everyday uniforms donning protective gear and badges that symbolize law and order, the officers were seen engaging in the softer act of storytelling.
According to the Boston Police Department's news, "The event emphasized the value of education and showcased the strong partnership between local leaders, educators, and families in supporting student growth and development."
