
A brother and sister duo, John Chong Uk Moon and Cindy Kim, have been formally charged with the murder of 66-year-old businessman Cuauhtémoc Garcia, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office. The incident occurred on February 25 as Garcia was about to take his routine walk along the Coyote Creek Bike Path in Cerritos. The charges include one count of murder and one count of attempted second-degree robbery against each sibling, with their arraignment scheduled at the Bellflower Courthouse.
With the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's investigation leading to the arrests, the pair were spotted in a TikTok video that played a crucial role in identifying the siblings as suspects, the DA's announcement reveals that Garcia was allegedly shot after refusing to surrender his car keys to Moon and Kim who now face potential life imprisonment sentences if convicted on the aforementioned charges their bail has been recommended to be set at $3 million for Moon and $2 million for Kim.
An initial attempt to stop the suspects led to a car chase in Anaheim orchestrated by Fullerton police, culminating in a PIT maneuver to detain the fugitives who had been residing in a silver Toyota Prius, Hoodline reported. "The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Craig Kleffman of LADA’s Bellflower Branch and was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department," the DA's Office stated.
