Caltrans has announced a full closure of eastbound US-50 for those traveling from Davis across the eastbound I-80 Yolo Causeway. This roadwork is part of the ongoing Yolo I-80 and US-50 Pavement Rehabilitation Project designed to repair and improve stretches of these well-traveled routes.
The disruption starts at 9 p.m. this Friday, March 7, and it's expected that the route will reopen by the early hours of Tuesday, March 11, precisely at 5 a.m. Local traffic that needs to access West Sacramento will have to consider alternative routes. As per the City of West Sacramento's announcement, vehicles can exit at Enterprise Boulevard (EXIT 81) or opt for eastbound I-80 and take the Reed Avenue (EXIT 83).
Drivers should plan on additional travel time, as detours are likely to cause some congestion in the surrounding areas. With traffic usually congested during peak times under normal conditions, these closures could potentially add significant delays to the weekend and morning commutes.
