In response to the destruction left behind by last year's storm, the City of Carrollton steps up efforts to rehabilitate its urban canopy with an Arbor Day Tree Giveaway. Set for April 19, the event aims to distribute 300 trees to residents on a first-come, first-served basis.
Eligibility for the giveaway requires Carrollton homeownership, and proof of residency must be displayed on the event day. Each household is limited to one tree, and the pickup is strictly scheduled for April 19. The days following May 28, 2024, bore witness to a landscape barren and bent, now the City moves to breathe life once more into those verdant lanes and pastures.
Preregistration is mandatory and begins at 8 a.m. on March 25, as detailed on the City of Carrollton's website. Upon registering, residents will receive an automated confirmation, and, later on, selected participants get an email with details on the pickup location and time. Options for the giveaway include crape myrtle, cedar elm, live oak, red oak, or vitex – each tree standing five to eight feet tall, nestled in a five-gallon bucket.
